i. In today’s society, there is a high incidence of multiple births for those that do in vitro fertilization. Many women choose to have children later on in life. Many couples choose to do in vitro fertilization to have a family. Regardless of the reason, we are seeing a higher rate of twins and triplets than ever before. We strive to provide educational material to new parents of multiples, when it comes to the 3 most common congenital challenges we see in multiples: head and face asymmetries, congenital muscular torticollis, and gross motor developmental delays. The good news is that these challenges are completely resolvable. The better news is that the earlier they are addressed, the sooner they are resolved. We find that many multiples with these challenges are not addressed by an expert until 5 months or older. The earlier the intervention, as early as 1 to 3 months of age, the easier and quicker the resolution. Early Intervention Screens for Multiples - Multiples are at high risk for having neck muscle tightness and limited neck range of motion because of limited growing space in utero.  Limitations are typically not obvious until 3 to 5 months of age.  What becomes obvious is a gradual flattening of the back of the head.  To avoid this, it is advisable to have your multiples screened for any head & neck limitations.  Families leave with a greater sense of awareness and are equipped with a safe and effective home program to prevent head flattening and improve neck range of motion.
